Prospect Identification Duties:

• Implement a major gifts prospect qualification process with an emphasis on building pools of prospects from those identified as being the University’s top prospects to meet organizational and campaign objectives.
• Spearhead efforts to continually improve and refine processes to generate prospect leads and facilitate acceptance of top prospects into fundraiser portfolios, leveraging technology for reporting and distribution.
• Collaborate with the Research and Prospect Management (RPM) team to identify prospects for ad-hoc responsive requests by development clients for unit strategy execution and portfolio optimization.
• Partner with Development Division, Information Division, and other teams as appropriate to establish and improve potential prospect pools, identifying additional data sources as necessary.
• Perform regular analysis and maintenance of established qualified prospect pools.
• Collect and analyze relevant information on corporations and foundations for identification of funding interests and gift potential.

Prospect Research Duties:

• Research new prospects using experience and judgment to qualify prospects for major gift development. The review process includes capacity verification, demographic updates, broad interest and philanthropic history and provides rationale for unit assignment.
• Provide enhanced intelligence on new and existing high value prospects to make recommendations on qualification areas of interest.
• Conduct wealth screening validation.
• Enrich the Client Relationship Management (CRM) database with research insights.

Prospect Development Consultative Services:

• Consult with development clients to understand constituent base and fundraising goals, develop annual prospect identification plans for units and priority initiatives, define prospect pool requirements, and explain and review outcomes.
• Consult with development clients, vendors, and technical teams in coordination with RPM leadership on construction of lists for specific initiatives and events, including screening and segmenting of constituent populations and qualification of resulting potential major gift prospects.
• Collaborate with RPM team members to provide recommendations of potential prospects for the portfolios of fundraisers.

Participate as a Member of the Research and Prospect Management Team:

• Attend and participate in regular research meetings.
• Share best practices and provide training for research colleagues.
• Participate in strategic planning and priority team projects.
• Suggest areas for process improvement and assist in improvement implementation.
• Recommend research information sources and other tools for subscription renewal, new purchase, or as an addition to regularly used free web sources.
• Build knowledge of prospect research best practices.
• Build knowledge of development and fundraising best practices.
• Participate in trainings, seminars and webinars.
• Adhere to policies and procedures.
• Develop and maintain own competence.
• Assist in control of WFAA resources.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Manager, Prospect Research.
